The AFJ works with a broad coalition of Jamaican organizations and stakeholders to bring about change in the lives of Jamaicans in need. By partnering and contributing to the AFJ; you have the ability to give an education to those who have none; to provide much needed medical care for young mothers, children at risk, the elderly and infirm; and the physically challenged.
The St. Andrew Care Center (SACC) is an outreach of the Saint Andrew Parish
Church that serves as an intervention program aimed at male youth at risk in the
Half-Way-Tree area and other inner-city communities of greater Kingston. It is a
charitable organization that rehabilitates “city street boys”. The St. Andrew Care
Centre is a non-governmental, non-profitable organization offering programs to
rehabilitate “Street and at Risk boys” between the ages of 10 to 15. The goal is to
integrate them into society to become positive and productive contributors. Presently, a remedial education and counseling intervention program is offered. The boys are from inner-city communities and without parental supervision; some without parents fending for themselves. The goal of SACC is to rescue of the next generation while contributing to the effort to stem the violence that plagues our nation.
Generally, the Cornwall Regional Hospital and the pediatric ward in particular present grave needs that demand our collective attention.
The goals of our fund raising efforts are to equip the Pediatric Ward with the necessary tools to provide adequate care and create a space that is both children friendly and supportive of staff efforts.
